How it works

RaceShare works by creating the opportunity for groups of people to share the costs of racehorse ownership. We want to deliver the best racehorse ownership experience you can get, for a fraction of the price.

Hands on with horses

You get the opportunity to visit your horse in training. Our flat trainers have between them won all the British Classics. It doesn’t get better than that.

At the races

When your horse runs you’ll go into a ballot for Owners badges, which are limited, but we’ll aim to help get as many owners to the races as we can in other ways.

Inclusive

If you can’t make it to the races, you can share the experience through our Raceday Live programme.

A community spirit

We’ll host regular digital gatherings, led by our Racing Team, to discuss all things racing and ownership.

RaceShare
horse selection

  • We are working with the leading bloodstock agents, data specialists, trainers and pedigree experts to buy horses that we believe have the best chance of success.
  • We have bought a range of horses, of different types and therefore different potential opportunities, to cater for a range of tastes. You might prefer to buy into a sprinter than a stayer, or an already established Horse In Training to a Jumper, but our initial stable offers something for everyone.
  • We’ve got the best trainers and stable staff in the business looking after the horses.
  • Many of the horses we purchase will have the pedigrees to become potential broodmares, and in rare cases, stallions. When these opportunities arise we will explore extending the syndicates into breeding syndicates.

Our cost breakdown

We will always be transparent on all costs associated with your share and offer a breakdown of each share price which includes:

  • Capital value £20.00
  • Vetting £100.00
  • Management fee £90.00
  • All inclusive racing/training £20.00
  • Rehab contribution £10.00

Our ownership
structure

Each of our horses is set-up with the British Horseracing Authority as a syndicate.

icon/68x68/money

This means all shares bought give you ownership of that % of the horse. Owners will receive a share of all prize money, and where applicable, funds from the sale of any horses.

Each horse has its own bank account with Weatherbys, where a full P&L is logged.

Each of our horses is set-up with the British Horseracing Authority as a syndicate.

Horse welfare and
post-career care

  • A % of the cost of each share will go towards a horse’s post-racing pension fund.
  • This fund will be used at the end of the horse’s career to ensure the best possible post-career care. This could be helping find full retirement to a great home or retraining to take-up a new career.
  • In circumstances where the pension fund is not needed, this will be donated to the RoR (Retraining Of Racehorses).
  • We’ll always listen to our trainers when they advise a horse needs additional professional care or rehabilitation when in training. Trainers and their team have the welfare of their horses at the heart of everything they do.

Not-for-profit until
the end of 2025

  • The price you pay per share is a one-off cost for the duration of the syndicate period (usually a year from the point the horse is released for sale).
  • The price per share incorporates the purchase price of the horse, along with all the likely costs associated with running the syndicate for this period, including training fees, vetting costs, the cost to manage the syndicate and offer the service we do, to name just a few. Certain events we hold, like golf days or black tie dinners, will understandably be at an additional cost and are optional.
  • If for any reason there are unexpected costs that we have not accounted for, RaceShare will take the hit and not ask owners for a penny more. The only time you will be asked for more money is when the syndicate period comes to an end and you have the option to renew for a further term, and there is no obligation to do so.
  • As a commitment to our long-term vision and price transparency, we have pledged to be not-for-profit for the first three years from launch. And, if we make no profit in these initial years, we commit to donate £XXXXX between Racing Welfare and RoR regardless.
